Tracking Your Fitness – Best Fitness Watches

A good fitness watch can give you loads of feedback on your fitness and whether or not you’re reaching your potential. There are plenty to choose from but we’re looking for specific features. We need it to have a heart rate monitor (HRM), and GPS to track speed & distance. We also want sleep monitoring, phone connectivity and a waterproof case (for swimming), though it’s tough to get them all in one watch.

Moov Now

The Moov Now is great for bargain hunters. It’s a fair price considering all the features it comes with. It tracks stats, supports a HRM and has 12 guided workouts. There’s also a virtual coach, which is a big feature at this price, and vocal feedback, though these can be more annoying than helpful for some people.

Now this technically isn’t a watch. It’s a pure tracker which you can wear on your ankle or wrist, but we’re putting it in anyway because of how useful it is. It’s also waterproof and can track so many different metrics that the sheer amount can’t be listed here.

Garmin Forerunner 935

The price jumps up in a big way with our entry from Garmin. The Forerunner 935 is waterproof and can be bought with a waterproof HRM chest-strap. The accuracy of measurements is amazing. This watch is extremely tough and accurate, coming with a precision GPS system and sleep monitoring.

The Forerunner even looks amazing and you can switch straps to change the look. The only drawback it has is the price, but then you are getting a high quality watch and fitness tracker in one.

Samsung Gear Fit 2

This won’t be popular amongst Apple users, but my smartphone-related pick is the Samsung Gear Fit 2. Our third pick is more expensive than the Moov, yet a lot cheaper than the Forerunner. It works as a watch, can pair with Android phones and is one of the best looking trackers I’ve EVER seen.

It’s waterproof and tracks heart rate, and with the apps available, it can pretty much keep up with the Garmin. The Garmin looks fancier and has better GPS but it’s more than twice the cost. Being light and comfortable to wear make this more impressive, and it even has offline Spotify playback. Finally, the battery is long lasting and, while it can’t take the same beating as a Forerunner, it’s still pretty sturdy.

LetsFit Smartband

Our cheapest option, the LetsFit Smartband is a good tracker with basic abilities. It can monitor heart rate, sleep and GPS. It also has music playback and phone connectivity with a similar appearance to the Fitbit.

Where this one falls short is reliability. They’re a little easy to break and also not waterproof. With the price in mind it’s usually worth the gamble for newcomers, but for experienced athletes we’d recommend one of our other choices.
